Play your carbs right
There are three types of carbohydrates. The first are complex carbohydrates, otherwise known as starchy carbohydrates. They are found naturally in potatoes, sweetcorn, grains, cereal, vegetables and more.
Next, there are fibrous carbs, which can be found in fruit, veg wholegrains and nuts, and which are needed for good and healthy digestion.
Finally, we have simple carbohydrates (these exist naturally in fruits and veg). They are broken down in the body as sugar and are most likely to provide spikes in energy. Simple carbohydrates can be found in biscuits, cakes, chocolate, sweets and soft drinks.
