The recent weather has been cause to shed the layers but the sun may have come a little bit too early for some of us, not yet ready to hit the beach with confidence.
Whether you’re preparing for that much deserved holiday or just committed to getting into better shape, the summer weather is always a motivation to dedicate more time to achieving the level of fitness most of us long for.
Trainers Mick Barrett and Laura Connick from Dromcondra-based gym Active You have devised a series of super quick workouts designed to challenge those of all levels of fitness from beginner to the super buff.
The above video is part one of a five part series designed to get all of the muscles in your body working to the maximum of their capabilities.
Today, the Active You trainers focus on strengthening the legs, demonstrating modifications to their squats and lunges to suit beginners but also suit those who are hoping to partake in a more intensive workout.
“Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced, always try and work to the maximum of your capabilities,” said Mick Barrett, owner and trainer at Active You.
“Today’s video takes you through a series of squats and lunges designed to tone and strengthen your legs.
“If you’re struggling or can’t keep up to the intermediate or advanced pace, that’s okay. You’ll work up to it,” he said.
The gym hosts a unique series of classes called Active 6 which features all of the workouts in this week’s series.
