'A coffee shop is a better example than the pub'
When Sinéad Fox (37) was growing up in Co Wexford, she rarely went to a café.
Times have changed. Since going on maternity leave last year, the busy mother of three meets her friends in Gorey for coffee once a fortnight. If her son Ciarán (5) is at school, she'll bring three-year-old Cathal and 10-month-old Laoise along. Ciarán and Cathal have tried babyccinos but prefer hot chocolate, which has a minimal amount of caffeine.
Solicitor Fox, who blogs at Bumbles of Rice about family life, believes immersing her children in Ireland's café culture is preferable to a pub.
"You are setting an example to your children. If you are spending all your days in coffee shops, they'll think it's normal. I hope it will stick with them in the fut ure."
