Ballsy food and ballsy flavours: that's the cooking philosophy of Jez Felwick, whose book 'The Bowler's Meatball Cookbook' is all about gourmet meat, fish and veg balls.
Jez learned to cook at the Ballymaloe Cookery School and organic farm in Co Cork and he believes in delivering sensational food from his grass-fed van that can be found in various locations around the UK.
Jez discovered the whole 'food truck' scene on a trip to the US, and that inspired the launch of The Bowler, which makes appearances at farmers' markets, music events and summer festivals.
The book, published by Mitchell Beazley, contains everything from Great Balls of Fire – the first ball that Jez developed, packed with spicy flavour and texture – to the Popeye, which will appeal to spinach lovers, and Baa Baa balls, which were inspired by Greek flavours – a wonderful combination of salty feta, well-flavoured lamb and fresh mint.
The book contains a number of interesting sauce options, from wild-mushroom sauce, barbecue, honey and garlic sticky ball to a very tasty smoky chipotle mayonnaise.
