vanilla and almond custard


500ml almond milk

2 tbsps cornflour

20g light brown sugar

¼ tsp turmeric

2 vanilla pods, sliced lengthways


Pour the almond milk, cornflour, sugar and turmeric into a small saucepan and whisk the mixture until the cornflour has dissolved. Now add the vanilla pods and place over a medium heat to bring to a simmer.

Continue to heat the custard over a low heat for about 10 minutes, whisking as it cooks. Once it starts to thicken, remove from the heat and pass through a sieve to remove the vanilla pods. Set aside until ready to serve.
