Tannery enjoys taste of success
THE Tannery in Dungarvan has been named the Best Restaurant in Ireland.
And Sunil Ghai, head chef at Ananda Indian restaurant in Dundrum, was crowned Best Chef in Ireland at the Santa Rita/'LIFE Magazine' Irish Restaurant Awards 2013 in the Burlington Hotel last night.
Almost 800 restaurateurs and industry players attended Ireland's biggest ever restaurant awards at which regional and all-Ireland winners were announced.
The Lady Helen at Mount Juliet was named Best Hotel Restaurant, while The Brewer's House in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, was named Best Gastro Pub.
Saba, in Dublin city centre, won Best Casual Dining, while Renvyle House Hotel was honoured for Best Customer Service.
Padraic Og Gallagher, president of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, said: "Ireland has so much to offer to the culinary tourist, and these awards remind everyone of the quality and class of Irish restaurants and chefs."
