Ask the expert: Why should you keep a selection of cooking oils ?
Jack Rogers, MD of Newgrange Gold
Every cooking oil serves a purpose and will change the flavour of your food dramatically so we recommend having a range of oils in your kitchen to suit various dishes and flavours.
Camelina Oil, also known as Wild Flax Oil, is packed with Omega 3, 6 and 9, plus is high in antioxidants. Great for adding to your granola, juice or smoothie it has a high smoke point making it good for cooking and baking.
Rapeseed oil is a heart-healthy all-rounder. Affordable, sustainable and light in taste, it can be used in most cooking scenarios. It contains half the saturated fat of olive oil, which is also a healthy choice, but was unrivalled in the kitchen until recently. It's great for salad dressings and we also recommend a cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil.
Sesame seed oil, used in Asian dishes, has a strong fragrance, and little goes a long way. If you have these oils in your kitchen you are well stocked with all tastes covered.
