Next stop, world domination: Rachel Allen's a hit with Asian audiences
Rachel Allen has already conquered the Irish culinary scene and now the celebrity chef has set her sights on Asia.
With numerous successful cookbooks and TV series to her name, Rachel (43) also has a growing fanbase on the other side of the world with her shows airing in dozens of countries across the globe.
Rachel's programmes have proved so popular that the TV chef jetted out to south east Asia recently to meet fans.
"I have just been in Singapore, Taiwan and Sri Lanka to do some cooking over there," Rachel told the Herald.
"BBC World are based in Singapore and they sell my shows all around Asia and the world and they're doing quite well. Apparently the shows have sold in 30 or 40 different territories so I was doing classes and demonstrations."
While Rachel is no stranger to being regularly recognised at home in Ireland, she admitted she found it rather strange when she was approached by fans abroad.
"It's extraordinary, it's really funny being out in those places and having people know you," she said. "I feel like their food is so exotic but I suppose a lot of people out there love baking and that's very exotic for them."
Rachel was also cooking up a storm for the crowds at this week's ploughing championships.
