Not on your Nelly!

Nelly’s is a staple for lunchers and brunchers of Portobello in Dublin and luckily all this goodness is no longer restricted to the southside as Nelly’s has opened a second location on the northside of Dublin city in Drumcondra.

A wonderful little haven for commuters, dog walkers and student teachers from St. Pat’s College, Nelly’s offers a brilliant selection of homebaked goods made with organic eggs and a popular lunch menu with plenty of healthy and wholesome options.

Roast Pumpkin Seeds

Don't throw away the seeds of your pumpkins this year - they make a perfect little Halloween snack and are far more healthy than your average Halloween treats.

You will need

Seeds of 2 pumpkins

3 tbsps of melted butter

2 tsps of chilli powder

1 tsp of cayenne pepper

2 tsps of sea salt

Method:

Remove the seeds from the pumpkin, place in a colander and rinse with water until they are clean. Shake off any excess water and place the seeds on a dry tea towel and pat dry. Place the seeds in a large roasting tray and pour over the melted butter.

Sprinkle the seeds with the chilli powder, cayenne pepper and sea salt. Toss the seeds until they are all thoroughly coated. Place in a hot oven 200˚C to toast for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before transferring to serving bowls.

Little Black Book

Founded by Laura Murphy, DBKB is Ireland's first kombucha brewery. Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Donegal, it is a real hidden gem and they lovingly bottle their brew, SynerChi, using 100% natural, organic ingredients and their unique kombucha culture.

Originating in east Asia, kombucha is an ancient Chinese brew made by fermenting organic teas and live cultures which results in a naturally carbonated and refreshing drink, loved by health crusaders and trend-setters alike.

Flavours include raspberry & rosehip and ginger & lemongrass and they won two top awards at the Bord Bia Organic Awards. Expect to see a lot more of SynerChi drinks soon. synerchikombucha.com
