Dive in at the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival
HOORAY for Howth! The Dublin Bay Prawn Festival is back this weekend in the gorgeous Dublin seaside town.
The festival first began celebrating the virtues of the mighty Dublin Bay Prawn four years ago – sure it'd be shellfish to be keeping these gorgeous prawns to ourselves.
Each year, the event has been a feast of fab family fun and prawns, of course, and this year is no different.
Today is the last day of the three day festival, but don't worry there are still plenty of fish in the sea (sorry!) and loads of activities from a funfair on Harbour Road to the food fair, where local bars and restaurants are showcasing their dishes for the price of a few 'prawn punts' (the festival currency available for purchase on entry). There is also the intriguingly named 'Howth goats on display' event that sounds promisingly Father Ted-esque. So hop to Howth and grab a crustacean for your degustation.
