British comedian and actor Russell Brand gave an Irish restaurant his stamp of approval yesterday during a visit.

Brand, a vegan, popped into The Happy Pear restaurant in Greystones, and described it on Instagram as “a culinary utopia full of beautiful people”.

The Happy Pear is run by twins David and Stephen Flynn.

“Russel you legend!,” they replied under Brand's Instagram post. “Thanks so much for visiting! Keep up the fab work and being you! Hopefully see you again sometime.”

The comedian and activist has been vegetarian since the age of 14, saying “you shouldn’t eat animals, it’s mean to them”. He then became a vegan in 2014.

Other well-known fans of The Happy Pear include chef Jamie Oliver, who offered the twins a spot on his YouTube channel, ultra athlete Rich Roll, and models Rosanna Davison and Roz Purcell, who've appeared in the twins' videos.
