Aldi has launched a new bargain craft Irish vodka in its stores.

Woulfe’s Irish Vodka, which recently picked up a Gold Medal at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2017, is slowly distilled in a copper pot still in small batches.

It is produced by Blackwater Distillery in Co Waterford, who also produce Boyle’s premium Irish small batch craft gin for Aldi.

Food and drink critic Tom Doorley has described the vodka as "exceptional".

“Woulfe's Irish Vodka is exceptional.  Slowly distilled in a copper pot still in small batches, its aroma is sparklingly clean with just a touch of malt. On the palate, it's round, smooth, silky without even a trace of burn. We have seen the birth of one of the world's great vodkas.”

Woulfe’s Irish Vodka (€24.99 per 700ml) went on sale in all Aldi stores on on November 12, along with Dolmen Irish Poitin (€19.99 per 500ml).
