'I had my tubes tied - life with two children is busy enough,' says RTÉ's Jen
Jennifer Zamparelli has spoken about having her "tubes tied" after she and her husband decided they didn't want any more children.
The RTÉ presenter (39) and her partner Lau have two children, Florence (4) and Enzo (1), and are satisfied that their family is now complete.
She told this month's 'VIP Magazine' how she's now "stitched up" and she had her tubes tied in February 2018 after she gave birth to Enzo.
"My tubes are tied. I had a C-section and while the surgeon was down there - job done. Lau really didn't want to have any more. Life is busy enough with two and with work. And the jobs that we are in, they're not steady jobs," she said.
She took over the presenting role of 'Dancing with the Stars' from Amanda Byram last January and will start hosting her own morning show on 2fm next month as part of the schedule revamp.
But she said that she's been slogging away in the business for over a decade before landing the coveted gig on the flagship dancing show.
"I feel like I've been working my ass off for 10 years to get to this point," she said.
"It's not an overnight success, it didn't just happen, I didn't just get plucked from RTÉ. I've been chipping away doing great TV shows, doing s***ty TV shows, getting rejected, getting ideas rejected.
"And I've done five years on breakfast radio and I think everybody who works those ungodly hours deserves a medal for getting up.
"When we started on 'Breakfast Republic' - myself, Bernard [O'Shea] and Keith [Walsh] - there was some hatred towards us. You should have seen the texts we got. But it grew from there to become one of the biggest breakfast shows in our demographic."
The Baldoyle, Dublin, native said that she feels she has "done my time" and that she deserves the opportunities that come her way.
