Bill Linnane: ‘I don’t enjoy the tedious Marvel movies I have to sit through, but I do love cinema time with my kids’

​I am not a cinephile. I’m not sure that as a middle-aged male, I would be claiming I am anything ending in -phile, but of the vast array of -philias, even this most benign one is not something I’d attribute to myself. I like films, but I’d never say I love cinema. I love thecinema — the building and the experience — but that’s about it. I like blockbusters, sneaking in treats, sticky floors, and almost wetting yourself because you don’t want to miss anything.
