A 47-year-old woman found out she was pregnant just one hour before she gave birth to the couple's first baby.

Judy Brown, from Massachusetts, believed the changes her body was experiencing were due to the menopause.

She and her husband of 22 years, Jason, went to the hospital after she began to experience severe abdominal pain.

Medical staff informed the couple that they were expecting a baby, and it was on its way.

Judy gave birth to an 8-pound baby an hour later.

"The nurse said it's good news, you don't have any blockages or anything - you're pregnant and you're going to have her now," Judy laughed.

Her husband explained how they believed her sudden weight gain was due to her age.

"It's not like gaining weight - when you gain weight its usually flappy and soft, this was hard," he explained.

The couple borrowed a car seat and bassinet to bring Baby Carolyn Rose home.

She is named after the couple's mothers.
