TV3 presenter Karen Koster has admitted that does not go tee-total while she is pregnant.

Koster (36), who is three months pregnant with her third child, is due on June 4.

The Xpose host, who has been filming her own documentary Mammy Guilt for TV3, says she doesn’t go “cold turkey” when she is pregnant.

“I’m not doing anything different. If anything, you tend to forget a little bit so you’re trying to remember not to drink too much coffee and for Christmas, it is always hard because I don’t go off my alcohol when I’m pregnant so there is temptation everywhere.”

“I make up for the sugars in other ways,” she added.

“At Christmas certainly I was not going to cut myself off entirely but I don’t go cold turkey with anything but obviously you do it within the recommended limits but yeah, I would’ve had the odd glass to celebrate Christmas and New Years."

Karen and husband John McGuire are already parents to two boys, Finn (3) and JJ (21 months).

“Finn never got used to a life on his own with us because he was only a year when I had another baby so there was always the two of them. I don’t really remember a life when there was just one.”

“He’d be very sympathetic and very good at sharing with his younger brother so I’m hoping those kind qualities carry over.”

In her upcoming TV3 documentary Mammy Guilt, Karen explores the realities of being a working mother in Ireland. The documentary is part of the True Life documentary strand which will air on January 17.
