Plus-size model Tess Holliday shares intimate breastfeeding photo with new son Bowie
Plus-size model Tess Holliday has shared an intimate photograph which captured a moment as she breastfed her newborn son Bowie.
The American mum, who became the first size 22 woman to land a major modelling contract in the UK, shared a photograph which was taken by her partner to promote breastfeeding, after welcoming her second child two weeks ago.
The US model admitted the image captured a proud moment as she has struggled with breastfeeding in the weeks since her son Bowie’s birth.
“I had to capture this moment because today was the first time I was successful at feeding lil’ Bowie laying down #NormaliseBreastfeeding,” she wrote on her Instagram account.
Holliday, who has a ten-year-old son Rylee from a previous relationship, battled against harsh comments made on social media throughout her pregnancy, which criticised her size.
In May, the model posted a photograph to her Instagram account in which she posed naked to address her body-shamers.
“I will continue to live unapologetically, to thrive in this body, prove the naysayers wrong & laugh at the ignorance,” she wrote.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Holliday revealed she puts negative comments out of her mind.
"I really don't care if people think I'm unhealthy," Tess said.
"I feel like it's so clear. Our bodies are our business, and it's OK to be who you want to be, and I think most people get that."
