Mum-to-be Michelle Doherty busy nest-building in new London pad
SHE is looking forward to finishing work later this month and enjoying an extended period of maternity leave.
But presenter Michelle Doherty has one big job to finish before her first child arrives this autumn -- getting her new home in order.
The Xpose host has just moved into her new place, a London apartment she bought with other half, Mark O'Shea.
While she is delighted to finally have found somewhere to call home, Michelle said that the new pad is far from the finished product and she will be getting out the DIY tools as soon as her maternity-cover contract on TV3 fashion show Xpose comes to an end soon.
There is also the small matter of decorating the nursery, but after buying a three-bedroom apartment, Michelle and Mark will have plenty of space to dote over their new arrival.
The couple are expecting their first child in August, and Michelle (36) will hand over the ropes to Xpose presenter Aisling O'Loughlin, who is due to return from maternity leave on May 16.
"I'm looking forward to finishing up work and concentrating on the baby because I do worry that I am doing too much running around," Michelle told the Herald.
"But we got the keys to our new apartment only a few weeks ago, so it's very exciting and it needs loads of work.
"It's an old building, so it needs all of the modern trappings and we need to get that updated as well as kitting out the baby's room because we want to make sure that he or she has the best of the best.
"So I definitely won't be bored when I finish up work, but saying that, we have plenty of time and we want to make sure that it's all done right."

After plenty of searching, Donegal lass Michelle and her Kerry boyfriend were delighted to find their dream place, a comfortable pad with three bedrooms -- so plenty of room for their babysitters.
"I won't be able to travel pretty soon so it's important for me to have plenty of space for my mum and family to come over," said Michelle.
"I have her lined up to travel over and help me before and after the pregnancy, so they are being very supportive."
Michelle looked radiant at the recent VIP Style Awards where she wowed in a vintage gown by Shutterbug.
"I'm feeling amazing and I've had the best pregnancy, so I've been really very lucky that it didn't affect my work at all," Michelle said.
