'Mine slept on my face, literally, last night' - Irish mums' responses to Kathryn Thomas's post are the best
When RTE presenter Kathryn Thomas posted an honest, hazy night time photo on Instagram of herself and her one-month-old daughter Ellie in bed yesterday, she sparked a huge response.
The Operation Transformation host (39) told how she was "pondering on whether [she'd] ever get a full nights sleep again".
And she said her heart was bursting with happiness during this "overwhelming" time.
"The past month has just flown by as all you Mums told me it would. Ellie makes my ❤️ burst with happiness every time I look at her little mush. She constantly amazes me," she wrote.
Taken at 5am pondering on whether I’ll ever get a full nights sleep again......herself, not so much 😂 The past month has just flown by as all you Mums told me it would. Ellie makes my ❤️ burst with happiness every time I look at her little mush. She constantly amazes me. Becoming a new Mum is pretty overwhelming. It’s exciting, terrifying, hilarious, daft, empowering, fulfilling and completely magical. And to think that this little human is relying on 2 people who are really just winging it. 🤓 With all the conflicting advise on feeding & sleeping routines ( yes, I know she shouldn’t be in my bed but she’s way too cute to throw her out!) I’ve figured out all you really need to nail this parenting thing is bundles of love... and lots of nappies 🤗
She earned praise from her followers for her honesty when she admitted that she and her fiancé Padraig McLaughlin were just "winging it".

Here's how Irish women responded to Thomas's post.
I think my uterus just flipped. God I miss those midnight snuggles. Now it's freezing cold feet shoved under my bum at 5am. Enjoy every sleep deprived moment @kathrynthomasofficial
Let her sleep in your bed, that time goes way to quick... mine slept on my face, literally, last night as all she wanted was cuddles from her mammy as wasn't well, gets up this morning and didn't want to know me, only her daddy
Enjoy and breath her in,the time will fly and she will be running around wrecking your head and your house soon Do what you feel, follow your instincts,if Mammy is happy so will baby, everyone will have an opinion, grow a thick skin and ignore. Many of us would live the chance to have our babies in bed to snuggle, all we get now is a mouthful of guff ♀️
My 1 year still owns our bed! The cot is just not good enough for her ladyship
My kids are 8 & 4 and are still in my bed sleeping with me as well as our puppy. They are not babies for long and i know its only a matter of time before my 8 year old doesnt want to sleep in my bed anymore and il miss it. Enjoy every minute your little baba, you feel like you just had them and all of a sudden they are starting school and thats when time really starts to fly x
I hear you!!! Ours is 5 weeks old and a mahoosive sleep thief. You think you are getting somewhere then Bam nope 3 hr slots
No wrong way and no right way so just do it your way. There are no perfect humans so you don't have to try to make one!! You can't get it wrong either though.
You do what works for you and don’t pay attention to anyone else! One thing I have learned since being a mum is with other peoples opinions your damned if you do and damned if you don’t! Enjoy every minute x
Whatever feels right for you is right...don't listen to others...your baby dictates and they are all different TG.... enjoy every precious minute because they grow so fast....babies love the strong bond with their mothers and like being close to them. Enjoy every minute.
All 4 of my kids slept in my bed for the first six months and I never had sleep issues with them. I think it’s brilliant for breastfeeding and bonding. Gorgeous picture and you get used to being sleep deprived!
Very inspirational to see a picture of a celeb mom posting a very "real" picture of reality. Too often we see celebs posting "perfect" pregnancy and post pregnancy pictures and it makes the rest of us feel terrible Love this picture, sounds like you are doing amazing❤
Such a gorgeous photo Kathryn.. I've had four boys and one beautiful daughter. My youngest will be twenty one this year. They were all different, each one with their own "funny" traits, habits and loving ways. But the one thing that they all loved, and thrived on was that they were all in our bed as babies and toddlers. It's a beautiful time in life, for you and your gorgeous little girl. Enjoy every single minute of it.
She’s such a cutie..congrats to u both..my little guy cohabited with me till he was 7 ....years!!!!hes now 20 and still my baba....enjoy every precious minute ... wish I could turn back time
dees_fittness_journeyCongratulations. Leave her where she is. Especially if it means you get to have a full nights sleep. trust your instincts. My 8 year old still sneaks into our bed most nights. Love the snuggles ❤❤
Noah was in our bed and his daddy booted out until he was 12 weeks! whatever helps them sleep hope you're both doing well. We are at six months now and it feels like a blink
momma secret number 1 - we’re all winging it!!! Anyone who says otherwise is in denial!! Enjoy every moment and do what works best for you and that gorgeous girl!! Looks to me like you’re rocking it so far xx
Sleep is overrated I often felt like someone, without telling me, was performing an experiment on me to see how little sleep you could survive on but 10.5 years on, 3 babies and 3 angels I don't regret a second and loved having their beautiful little faces beside me when they came in. Love, Love, Love and sane friends who talk real about it all. Best time ever x x
Keep her in your bed for as long as you're all happy. She won't be a tiny tot forever. Treasure falling asleep and waking up beside her.
Cots and cribs are for storing blankets and clothes in. Enjoy her!
