‘Double trouble, and a wish come true’ – proud dad of twins born on the SAME date as their twin sisters
Donegal couple Seamus and Elizabeth Doherty are celebrating the birth of their second set of twins.
Little Sienna and Travis were last Tuesday, and they share the exact same birthday as their twin sisters Samera and Tameka.
Samera and Tameka, now four years old, were born on October 17 in 2013.
“Double trouble, and a wish come true," proud dad Seamus told independent.ie. "I wished that the second set on twins would be born on the same date."
The couple's families have no history of twins in recent generations, so they were very shocked to discover earlier this year that a second set of twins was on the way.
“We went into the scan and the girl just looked at the scan, and she said I have good news for you, and she said you’re expecting twins, it was such a shock.”
But he said: “It’s easier this time because you know what’s in front of you. The last time you were getting used to changing two babies and feeding two babies at once."
Elizabeth and the twins came home yesterday, and are settling in well into the family home. Today was the twins due date.
“They all came home yesterday. She was supposed to go in yesterday for today, but she’s home now.”
“We’ve already changed the car now, we’re driving a Volvo XC90, it has seven seats now, there’s room for a pram and everything.
Autumn is a special season for the Doherty family. The twins brother Torin (7) also has a birthday in autumn, as he was born on September 27.
