Doting dad PJ's special delivery

A doting dad yesterday told how he delivered his fourth child in the family's bathroom.

PJ Hennessy, who manages Stoneage garden centre in Crecora, Co Limerick, was on hand to help when his partner Carla Walsh's waters broke at home two weeks ago.

"It was all over before it started really. Looking back, I didn't have time to think about it. It only hit me afterwards," he said.

"Carla didn't have any labour pains but she had some discomfort so she went to take a bath.

"Then she called me in because her waters broke. I rang an ambulance and they were here within 10 minutes but it was all over at that stage."

Shannon Jade weighed in at 7lb 13oz after her dramatic delivery.

Mr Hennessy also paid special tribute to the medical personnel.

"I really want to say a big thank you to the ambulance crew and the staff at the maternity hospital in Limerick," he added.

Carla said her man was "fantastic".

The happy couple are pictured above with Shannon Jade and their three other children Ethan (10), Holly (5) and 15-month-old Serena.
