A parent's view

Declan Keaveney was one of the parents interviewed for the Supporting Child Contact: the Need for Child Contact Centresin

Irelandreport. A parent and guardian of three children, Keaveney is totally supportive of contact centres as safe places where children can be in the presence of their parents.

Having gone through a difficult separation some years ago, he would have welcomed the value of having access to a contact centre at that time.

"There are lots of dire situations where family contact centres would be a great help now more so than ever.

In addition, Keaveney is concerned that there are currently no refuges where men can bring their children.

"It's imperative that contact centres start sooner rather than later," he adds.
