Surprises sort As from Bs and Cs
A FEW "surprises" in the grammar questions will have sorted out the As from the Bs on the Leaving Cert German higher level paper.
Orla ni Shuilleabhain, of the Institute of Education, said elements of both grammar questions had not featured on the paper in the past 10 years.
Patrick Kavanagh, from the ASTI and St Mary's CBS, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, agreed there were a number of "surprises".
"Sorting out their As from their Bs and Cs is the way I'd see it," said Mr Kavanagh. However, he described the texts as fair.
The ordinary level paper was described as "topical", but students found some of the vocabulary in the comprehension texts difficult.
Scatha Ni Fhearghail, of the TUI and Mulroy College, Milford, Co Donegal, said overall the Junior Cert higher level was "quite a manageable paper".
Ms Ni Fhearghail felt that for the most part the ordinary level paper was also "fair and accessible".
