Science week a few highlights

Interactive workshops, science shows, family fun days, exhibitions are among this week's highlights.

Events include:

Q The new Midlands Science Festival features maths buskers – a sort of meeting of minds between maths, magic and performance – while a gang of XTRA-ordinary neuroscientists, science broadcasters, academic leaders and technology experts will deliver presentations in a cafe-style environment.

Q The Discovery Science Festival in Cork will feature interactive exhibits and workshops.

Q The Curiosity Lab@Science Week will host hands-on workshops, adventures in electronics, interactive installations, games and curious technology at Dublin's Filmbase in Temple Bar.

Q Galway Science & Technology Festival will run a for a period of two weeks and includes a family open day.

Q Mayo Science & Technology Festival on Sunday at Galway-Mayo IT, Castlebar, Co Mayo, will feature a talk by Laura Gilligan, a senior scientist at the Office of the State Pathologist in which she will teach how to build a scientific flying toy and launch it.
