Potter puts in special appearance

HARRY Potter delighted Junior Certificate Music higher level candidates with an appearance on their paper yesterday.

A piece from one of the wizard's movies featured in the question five, on illustrative and film music, always a popular category with students.

Mary McFadden of the ASTI and Loreto Secondary School, Fingal, said that when she met students coming out of the exam, one of the first things they said was, "we loved Harry Potter".

She said they were given the freedom in answering the question to explore their personal response, which she saw as an example of the way the Junior Cert was going -- requiring students to think more for themselves.
