PAC have the postgraduate applications mastered . . .

As most students know, the Central Applications Office (CAO) is concerned with application to undergraduate courses to its member colleges.

A separate limited company, the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC), handles applications to a number of the postgraduate courses including the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PDE).

This Postgraduate Diploma is the required qualification for all teaching posts in secondary, community and comprehensive schools. The closing date for application to PDE programmes in the NUI universities in the academic year 2013/2014 is Saturday.

Applications should be made online. Queries may be made to the Postgraduate Applications Centre, 1 Courthouse Square, Galway, Tel: +353 (0)91 549260 or fax: +353 (0)91 563056.

PAC's website, www.pac.ie, answers many of the queries applicants are likely to have, regarding recognised degrees, subject recognition for teaching purposes, quotas for particular subjects, the scoring system and much more.

Applicants to Trinity's postgraduate diploma in education apply directly to TCD, where the closing date for application is December 10.

HEIs vary in their use of the PAC (Postgraduate Application Centre) for other postgraduate courses, with just five HEIs, DCU, NUI Galway, NUI Maynooth, UCC, CIT and WIT, using it as their applications system for most of their postgraduate programmes.
