How do I apply? It's easy on-line

Springboard on

Springboard on is a free user-friendly one-stop-shop which allows you to search, compare and apply for all courses in the Springboard initiative.

The search facility allows users to browse courses in its comprehensive online catalogue using criteria such as career category, name of provider, mode of study and delivery method.

Users can save a course of interest to their account for later review by clicking on the "add to basket" icon and then contrast this with other courses using a number of criteria such as content and duration.

Springboard on allows you to apply for any course using a single online application. Applicants will be asked for information on previous education and employment experience. Up to 15 different course applications can be made by an applicant.

Each application is forwarded to the relevant higher education provider who, following assessment of each individual's application can make a course offer through the online system. Applicants should note that higher-education colleges will aim to make a course offer that, in their view, best matches the applicant's abilities and potential to successfully participate and complete their course of study. Each higher education college will also offer a range of orientation and study supports for Springboard participants.

You will be invited to open a personal account where you will create a unique username and password. Every time you exit the application process the detail of your application will be saved in the database until the next time you return. As such if you only partially complete the form and intend to return and complete it later, all the details you have entered will be saved. Course providers may ask you for additional information to the application form. This may include:

Once you submit your completed application through the course providers you've chosen will correspond with you directly regarding the progress of your application. In the unlikely event that you don't hear from them in the timeframe expected be proactive and contact them directly.

Course recommendations

A further feature of Springboard on is its course-recommendation system which, on the basis of the user's application details, automatically generates suggestions for courses that it thinks may be most relevant to you. This will only be of use to you where you are sure that you would like to gain skills in the area in which you have been previously employed and for which you may already have gained an earlier qualification.

Closing dates

Apply for your chosen course(s) as early as possible through Springboard on The more popular courses will fill quickly. Don't wait until the closing date to apply as if the course is over-subscribed long in advance the course provider may stop accepting applications much earlier than you expect.
