SCHOOLS from outside Dublin are getting an extra incentive to enter next year's BT Young Scientist Exhibition, with a boost in the funding available for travel and accommodation.

BT yesterday announced that it would continue to organise and sponsor the competition -- the largest of its kind in Europe -- for a further three years, pledging €2m for the period.

And a 50pc increase in the travel and accomm-odation grant to €75,000 will be a boost to schools that require extra financial support to travel and stay in Dublin for the fair.

Pictured at the launch of the 2012 competition, which will take place in the RDS, Dublin, from January 11-15, was Aisling Mullen, from Mercy Secondary School, Inchicore, Dublin.
