An American man who sent his ex-wife flowers on the day their divorce was finalised has been commended around the world after his touching gesture went viral.

Jason Lynn sent his wife of 19 years a bouquet of her favourite flowers to mark the end of their marriage, which was accompanied by a note that read ‘Always Gonna Be You’.

The images of the flowers were posted by Jason’s 17-year-old daughter Morgan on Twitter and were soon shared around the world.

“My parents after 19 years of being married, were going through a divorce and it was finalised today,” wrote Morgan on Twitter.

“My dad sent my mom her favourite flowers.

“He used to send her flowers when she was having a bad day and to know that even after today he still did it breaks my heart.”

The teenager, from Texas, revealed that the note had a personal meaning for her parents, who danced to the Kenny Chesney song ‘Had Me from Hello’ at their wedding. ‘Always Going to Be You’, is another popular song by the country singer and Jason said that the note was something of a finale as they called the end to their relationship.
