Cocker Spaniel ‘Miami’ may have been named the best in show at Crufts on Sunday but it was a mad performance by a boisterous Jack Russell that remains the highlight of the competition.

Jack Russell terrier Olly took to the arena in Birmingham on Friday and it was clear from the outset that the pooch let his excitement get the better of him on the obstacle course.

The terrier really gave it his all as he dashed through the course, disregarding his handler Karen’s instructions, instead doing whatever he pleased.

Olly’s memorable performance included a faceplant as he tripped over a barrier and an ill-timed jump. The pooch even took a moment out of his performance to sniff out a corner of the competition space.

While Olly might not have been Crufts material in retrospect, the commentator on Channel 4 certainly got a laugh out of the rogue.

"He’s all over the place and so he should be," the announcer said.

"He’s going the wrong way, but it doesn’t really matter, does it?

"Olly’s totally crazy, as you can see he’s having a ball. Loves life and exercise.

Do you think 'Afterglow Miami Ink' deserved to win best in show at Crufts 2017?

"That’s one of the best shots I’ve seen in a long time."
