Gay couple recreate their Pride photo after 24 years together and capture hearts
A gay couple have won hearts after recreating their Pride march photo in the same spot 24 years later.
Nick Cardello, 54, shared the photos of them kissing on LGBT marches in Washington in 1993 and at the exact same location last weekend on an Equality March.
Cardello and his partner Kurt English, 52, are now married and have just celebrated their 25th anniversary together.
He shared the photos on Twitter with the caption: “It's just a phase”.
The kissing photos have racked up more than 800,000 likes and shares in just three days, attracting thousand of comments.
Cardello told BuzzFeed that reading all the comments was “really touching”.
"What’s interesting to see from the photos that have gone viral is the comments from the youth," he explained.
"They don’t see many photos of gay couples getting old together.
"They’re tagging their significant others, saying ‘this could be us’. That was really cute."
One person replied to the photo: "No but seriously this is the best thing I’ve seen today hands down."
"This is so awesome & pure. I absolutely HATE it when people think they know it all & say "it's just a phase". Nooo it is NOT,"wrote another.
One user joked: "Let's be honest: the amazing thing about this photo isn't the relationship. It's that he kept the same sunglasses w/o losing them for 25 yrs."
Meanwhile, a photo of a father walking his daughter to school on her first and last day has delighted the internet.
