Eoghan McDermott's perfect Picnic playlist

2fm DJ Eoghan McDermott

Electric Picnic is by far the most sparkling jewel in the Irish festival crown. It's come a long way from its inception as an alternative to the mainstream Goliath that was the now defunct Oxygen. Wonderfully, it has managed to retain its left-of-centre ideology and prospers, in spite of the fact that many of the featured artists do not currently enjoy mainstream radio play. That legacy will certainly inform what I play in my DJ set for 3Live next Sunday.

Lana Del Rey is the most interesting headliner for me, I expect her to prosper. The Cedric Gervais remix of her 'Great Gatsby' soundtrack number 'Young and Beautiful' will definitely feature in my set.

Years and Years have had a pretty sensational 12 months with the ubiquitous 'King', I have a nifty remix of that. Young producer Alex Crossan, who goes under the stage name Mura Masa, will pop up. The 1975 are marmite in the extreme but 'The Sound' is pop perfection, so that will be in there with some tweaking. Broken Social Scene are my The National and could make an appearance near the end to chill things out. Expect a healthy dose of Chemical Brothers and LCD Soundsystem in there too. See you Sunday.
