Feminine and modern, this trend is here to flatter.

Singer Ciara’s ticking several trend boxes with this slouchy tailored two-piece. Leaving the double-breasted jacket partially open, she’s flashing just the right amount of skin. If that’s not your vibe, style with a black cami.

Pleats Please

Pleats have been around for a while, and this season they are back in the fold having once again been given the high-fashion treatment. If your initial thought is of schoolgirl uniforms, a quick glance at the catwalks will banish those connotations — designers Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Celine and Stella McCartney, among others, presented pleated perfection. Arguably the most popular style is the metallic pleated midi skirt, thanks to Alexa Chung who made us all fall in love with the simple combo of a metallic Gucci skirt worn with an oversized granny jumper. Tick two of the season’s trend boxes by channelling daytime nonchalance in a pleated maxi worn with a pair of cropped ankle boots. Dresses are in the mix too — Bottega Veneta presented a series of tonal dresses with soft corsets and polished pleats on floaty skirts, that were chic and the perfect thing to wear to a winter wedding. You can be sure this season’s pleats will add an effortlessly feminine yet modern touch to your winter wardrobe.

When two of London’s most prestigious brands join forces, you know the outcome is going to be something special. Brown’s Hotel and Smythson, the luxury leather lifestyle brand, have teamed up to create the ‘Mayfair Christmas with Smythson’ package at the chic London address. With both brands sharing a Royal connection - Brown’s counts Queen Victoria amongst its esteemed guests, while Smythson is the proud holder of three Royal Warrants - you’re guaranteed to get the royal treatment. A bottle of Ruinart NV Champagne awaits guests on arrival, with full English breakfast the following day, and a choice of either a meticulously-designed Smythson cufflink- or jewellery box, that can be personalised, is included. While you’re there, make sure to pop around to Regent’s Street which is hosting an ‘Advent Calendar Experience’ where one lucky shopper will be selected at random to win a Christmas gift each day. Bookings are available up to January 8, 2017. Prices from £950/€1,128 per suite per night subject to availability. Visit roccofortehotels.com/browns-London

Stay cosy by layering up a pleated midi skirt with a turtleneck and a cardigan. The key is keeping the look streamlined, so tuck in the shirt and pick a cardigan that is slim cut and on the shorter side.
