Bob Walshe

I'm Bob and I'm 11 years old. My pet's name is Cosmo. My older sister Joey, whose favourite subject is science, wanted to call him Delta but then my Auntie told her that was the name of an airline, so she changed her mind.

I love animals. I used to have a rabbit called Hop, and Joey had one called Carrots. We had fish and hamsters, too, but we always wanted a dog. Mummy and Daddy were the problem. But they have four children. And Grandma. I didn't understand what the problem was.

But then Granddad died, and everyone needed some cheering up, so we went to Wicklow and found Cosmo. He makes everyone laugh. He's very soft, cute and fluffy but he is very lazy. He doesn't like to go for walks. He prefers to sit on the couch. He barks at us to open the shutters so he can see the street. But not much happens out there so I don't know what he finds so interesting. Maybe he likes cars. He loves the movie Cars. He watches it with my little sister Chloe, who is four. She loves cars, too, even though she is a girl. It is the only time when they are both quiet.

He sleeps in my room every night. He likes squeaky toys. Grandma bought him a squeaky Santa for Christmas. And a Christmas jumper. He enjoys chasing a ball in the back garden, eating my Auntie's hat which has a furry bobble, sleeping, and going upstairs - but the problem is he can't come down! Sometimes he goes up to the very top of the house and he waits for one of us to come rescue him. He likes listening to Joey playing the piano. She plays very well. He finds it relaxing, I think.

He likes it when Grandma is there because she always gives him treats. And she talks to him, a lot. Grandma likes talking.

He fears cats and is scared of William, my nine-year-old brother. He is obsessed with Chloe's dolls' house that Granddad gave her - he likes to steal the bath and hide it from her. This makes her crazy and so Cosmo can be afraid of her, too. Recently, I was sick in hospital and my Auntie brought me a teddy that looked just like Cosmo, with big eyes and white fur. As soon as I got home, and Cosmo saw it, he ate it!

We love having Cosmo so much as part of our family we want him to have a brother or sister. We just must convince Mummy and Daddy. We already have a name - Astro.

Name: Cosmo

Finest hour: Cheering us up collectively

Likes: Movies - Ice Age and Cars are favourites; Grandma

Dislikes: Cats, long walks
