TV3's 'Toy Show' rival is early for Christmas
TV3 will stage a rival version of RTE's long-running 'Late Late Toy Show' this year.
Presenter Alan Hughes who will host 'Showpal Christmas Toys' on November 29, said the commercial station expects their 30-minute programme to go down "very well" with viewers.
It will highlight the Top 10 gift guide and will air before Ryan Tubridy's show is broadcast on the same night.
'Ireland AM' anchor Hughes told the Irish Independent that TV3's offering is also more practical for families, as young children do not have to stay up late.
"We've done a segment on 'Ireland AM' over the last few years and it worked well, so they're investing more money into and putting it out as a prime time programme," Hughes said.
"I think it's handy for smaller kids who won't stay up for the full toy show (on RTE) and we'll cover the popular toys around at the moment, so in that sense you'll see everything first on TV3.
"Obviously we can't cover as much as RTE, though," he said.
The show, set at Tattersalls Winter Wonderland in Ratoath, Co Meath, will be integrated with TV3's new second screen companion app ShowPal, allowing viewers to find out more information about the toys featured on screen and reserve or buy them on the spot.
Unlike 'The Late Late Toy Show' which goes out live in front of a studio audience at 9.30pm, 'Showpal Christmas Toys' will be shown at 10am, with a repeat in the evening.
