Parents across country receive ultimate Christmas present as babies arrive on Christmas Day
Parents across the country were given the ultimate gift as their babies were born on Christmas Day.
The very first baby to arrive at Rotunda Hospital in Dublin today was Skander, pictured below with proud dad Foued Ben Hassen from Dublin.
Skander arrived at 00:09am weighing 3.69kg and is the first child for Foued and his wife Maha.
Over at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin, Elaina was born at 01:59 to mum Annemarie and dad Robert Mullervy from Arklow, Co Wicklow. Elaina, their first child, weighed 8lb 8oz (3.8kg).
Mum Aiveen Dykes and dad Austin O'Dwyer from Naas, Co Kildare also received the ultimate gift, at 1am this morning.
Baby Emily Dykes was the first baby to be born on Christmas Day at the Coombe hospital in Dublin.
The new arrival weighed 5lbs and 1 oz (or 2.3kg) and is Aiveen and Austin's first baby.
Emily is one of five babies delivered at the busy maternity hospital since midnight last night.

In Limerick, John Finnerty and Martha Bourke from Nenagh are new parents to baby Jordan born at 1.15am and weighing in at 7lbs 12oz.
The Christmas stork delivered Baby Archie Copley from Kilrush early this morning, at 5.05am to mum Rita and the new bundle weighed in at 7lbs 6oz.
Also, Jamie O'Connell was thrilled to become a new big sister to Kian. Kian was born at 10.21am this morning weighing 7lbs 1oz to mum Zara O'Regan and dad Jamie O'Connell.
Jack Sheehan arrived shortly before Kian at 10.13am. He's the fifth son of Carmel and John Sheehan from Ballynacally, Ennis and he weighed 9lbs 1oz.
Meanwhile at Cork University Maternity Hospital, Mary Ellen O'Sullivan gave birth to baby Ryan today while delighted Anna Dabulis Sawaryn from Cork city also welcomed her newborn daughter Amelia overnight.
