Ireland's superstar chefs don't often get to see the dawn given they are usually working late into the night. But a sunny day dawned bright and early for Mark Moriarty and Derry Clarke, pictured with Lindsey Holmes, for the launch at L'Ecrivain of Tesco Finest's support for the forthcoming Banquet at Electric Picnic. The duo will be preparing two banquets each day on the Saturday and Sunday of EP with fab menus and silver service at Stradbally Estate. The tickets are €120 each, the dress code is Black Tie meets Festival Fabulous and it's all in aid of Temple Street and Pieta House.
I couldn't let Bastille Day pass without raising a glass of something Gallic. Now there's a change! This year it was a glass of Lillet at Café en Seine. The drink, by the way, is pronounced lee-lay and was created in 1872 with a blend of wines and citrus liqueurs. Guests at the French-themed brunch included designer Emma Manley and jewellery designer Jenny Huston.

Ciara O'Doherty and Debbie O'Donnell were among the guests I met at the thoroughly enjoyable Zalando Summer Soiree, in The Botanical Garden in Opium. What a night! It was lashing rain outside but we secreted away under a glass roof, admiring clothes and accessories from the latest collections on the fashion website. We bopped to DJ Tara Stewart, sipped bespoke cocktails and wrapped the evening with illusionist magic by Jamie Skelton.
Congrats to Dr Prannie Rhatigan, whose book Irish Seaweed Christmas Kitchen I had the pleasure of launching last year. The Sligo medic is just back from Macau where she picked up first place in the Gourmand Best in the World Awards in the seafood category.
H.E. Edward Crawford, the new US Ambassador to Ireland is an enthusiastic collector of vintage cars. The first week in the job here, he was the special guest at the 28th Irish Classic and Vintage motor show in Terenure where he was photographed with volunteer show organisers Niall O’Reilly, Aidan Fitzgerald and Gerry Collins.
