‘Auditions can be intense — an actor once asked us to slap him’

Casting director Amy Rowan from Dublin discovers acting talent for film and television and says auditioning actors can sometimes get lost in the moment

‘My love for the craft of acting led me into the casting business. I tried acting myself when I was studying history in Trinity College but I didn’t pursue it because I didn’t have the confidence or the courage.

After leaving college, I worked for three years in film and television production. I was lucky enough to come into the industry when it was booming and there was plenty of space for young people to work as runners on set or in production offices.
