Kate O'Hara

Hello everyone, my name is Angel and I live in a house on four acres of territory at Peakroe, Athenry.

My owners are Louis (20) and Kate (18) and their parents are Joe and Grainne. I share the house with Odie, a rough collie and Maddie, a terrier/chihuahua cross.

The dogs sleep in the utility room, while I have choice of all the bedrooms.

Kate's room is my favourite and her duvet is comfy, but sometimes my purring keeps her awake; I sometimes go into Louis's bedroom but I usually end up leaving because it can be a bit too whiffy for me!

Every morning, Odie and I tip noses and he sniffs my bottom but I don't mind.

Maddie tries to give me a hard time, especially if she thinks none of the family are watching, but I hold my ground and she usually backs off.

When it comes to food, I am not fussy but I do prefer kitten nuts and my milk must be diluted and then zapped for 10 seconds in the microwave, otherwise I will not drink it!

I was adopted by my family in 2009 and think I was only two then - as I was found abandoned with my three kittens.

My family did adopt another cat about three years ago, called Miley, who was an alley cat and lived here for 10 months, much to my chagrin.

She was the bane of my life until she mysteriously disappeared one day (it wasn't me, garda, honestly!) and life then returned to normal.

I didn't like sharing the house, or my family with her, and according to my family, I had gone into a 10-month sulk!

If there is an open window, I like to go in and out of the house by myself.

I love being outdoors and my favourite sport is mousing, but when I catch one, I don't kill them, they usually die of exhaustion if my family don't take them off me!

Two years ago I got an infection in my left eye - we think it may have been scraped by another cat - and my vet in Athenry (Tina) had to take it out and she did a very good job.

However, she didn't get cross when I managed to remove the first set of stitches by myself!

I think I am 12 years old now and reckon I have only used up two of my seven lives, so I hope to live a lot longer because I love my family and I love living in the countryside where every day is an adventure for me!

Name: Angel

Finest hour: Being picked out by my family at the shelter

Likes: Kate's duvet and lots of cuddles

Dislikes: Russell, the ginger tom who lives across the road
