Aidan Corcoran's Dublin: 'After-work drinks are the highlight of my weekend'
My weekends are always a tale of two cities! Even though I grew up on a farm, I'm a city boy, and I absolutely love Dublin. There's such vitality that runs through the streets, and you are always sure to bump into someone you know.
Saturdays are always my busiest days at work in Brown Thomas. I'm fully booked from quite early, so I start my day with a strong black coffee in Clement & Pekoe on South William Street. They take their craft seriously, and the bench outside is the perfect people-watching spot.
Lunch is quick on a Saturday, so after a visit to The Pepperpot in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, or Honest to Goodness on Dame Court, I try to get a walk in. Dublin is stunning in the sun, so if we get even five minutes of it, I'll get out and see the city shine. Or I like a lap of the George's St Arcade.
After-work drinks are the highlight of my weekend. Taco Taco at East Side Tavern on Leeson St is my happy place - it's super-chilled, with amazing food and cocktails. Plus, after 11pm, it's an R 'n' B and hip-hop party! As a child of the 1990s, I love it.
Sundays are a completely different pace to Saturdays. I live in East Wall, so I love to walk up to Clontarf along the coastline and get in some sea air. Then on up to Dollymount Strand, I love to just watch the boats come in and out.
The ideal is to end the weekend with a drink in The Baths at Clontarf - it's newly opened, and has amazing sunset views over the coast overlooking the restored sea baths.
