Zebo gets the Lions call but heartbreak for Bowe
Although Tommy Bowe is undoubtedly devastated at having been sidelined in the British and Irish Lions tour in Australia after he broke a bone in his hand, he can take some comfort that it is a fellow Irishman who will take his place.
Winger Simon Zebo left Houston, Texas, last night, where he was travelling with the Ireland squad, after Lions' coach Warren Gatland decided he was the best man to replace the unlucky Bowe.
Zebo got the call after Ireland's 15-12 win over the US Eagles in Houston. "It is the best news I could ever have dreamed of. As a professional rugby player the ultimate goal is to be a British and Irish Lion."
Zebo could make his Lions debut this Saturday, and the 23-year-old is aiming for a Test spot.
