Young man 'on vehicle-only section of motorway' is killed after being struck by SUV

A YOUNG man has died after being struck by an SUV on the N7 in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai are investigating the fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning on the N7 outbound at junction 3 Brownsbarn, Dublin.

It is understood that the man was struck on a section of the N7 where pedestrians are prohibited.

"A 27 year old male pedestrian was fatally injured when was struck by a SUV. His body was removed to Tallaght Hospital where a post mortem will take place. The driver of the SUV was uninjured," a garda spokesperson said. 

"The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will reopen by late morning."
