Young man dies after car crashes into field
A YOUNG man was killed after his car veered off the road while he was en route to college.
Fintan Ryan (27), right, died yesterday after his 1999-registered Toyota crashed through a ditch into a field in Limerick yesterday morning.
Gardai are still investigating the cause of the single-vehicle accident on the N24 route at Ballysimon, Co Limerick.
Mr Ryan's car was found in the field alongside the busy Limerick-Tipperary road by a resident who heard the incident at 9.40am.
"I was in the yard when I heard it. I went across the road and saw it on its side in the field and rang the guards. They were the first here," the resident said.
One theory being investigated is that a heart condition which the driver suffered from may have caused the single-vehicle accident.
The victim was the youngest son of Roger and Breda Ryan, from Doon, Co Limerick, and had three brothers -- Eddie, Cathal and Rory. His father won an intermediate Munster hurling title with Limerick in 1968.
An uncle, Jimmy Ryan, was a well-known publican in the east Limerick village.
