A 21-year-old is currently in custody after Gardai seized €360,000 worth of cannabis plants from a site in County Meath.

The young man was arrested at the scene following a raid on a premises at Gillstown Little in Athboy yesterday afternoon, shortly after 1 pm.

The 21-year-old man is being detained at Kells Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The seizure comes as part of a clampdown into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Meath area.

In a statement Gardai said the raid was aimed at ‘disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks’.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.”

“[These] seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”
