Young electrician killed in crash

A YOUNG electrician was killed in a road collision yesterday.

Kevin Minogue (21) was killed when the car he was driving was involved in a crash with an SUV on the road between Thomastown and Inistioge, Co Kilkenny.

Mr Minogue, who is from Thomastown, was the sole occupant of the car which crashed at around 8.30am.

The man who was driving the SUV sustained minor injuries in the collision on the R700 at Brownstown. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Emergency services were called to the scene, however, Mr Minogue died from his injuries.

Thomastown gardai sealed off the road while forensic collision investigators examined the scene. Motorists were forced to divert from the route for most of the day as the road remained closed.

Mr Minogue worked locally at Kavanagh Engineering as an electrician and studied at DIT in Dublin.
