Woman suffers serious injuries in road accident

GARDAI have appealed for witnesses to a road accident that left a 26-year-old woman seriously injured.

The incident occurred at Cow Cross, Cobh, Co Cork, at around 5pm on Saturday when the car the woman was driving collided with an SUV.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where her condition is described as serious. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

Gardai in Cobh have asked anyone who has any information to contact Cobh garda station on 021 4908530, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Meanwhile, two men were taken to hospital following two separate traffic collisions in Co Cork yesterday afternoon – one, on the Midleton to Dungourney Road and one on the Dunmanway to Macroom Road. Neither of the men's injuries are believed to be life threatening.
