Woman struck by DART at Dublin train station

A woman was struck by a train at Sydney Parade in Dublin this afternoon.

An Irish Rail spokesperson told Independent.ie that the woman was struck by the 15.00 DART service from Malahide to Greystones.

Emergency services attended the scene and DART and other rail services were suspended for a time.

The woman has been taken to St Vincent's Hospital but there was no information available regarding her condition.

A garda spokesperson told Independent.ie that an incident took place at around 3.45pm and that they attended the scene.

Local diversions were put in place on Merrion Road for a time.

At 5.45pm AA Roadwatch confirmed that the level crossing at Sydney Parade Avenue has reopened to traffic.  

Irish Rail have also confirmed that services have resumed, though there are delays of 30 minutes.
