Woman rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the head on busy street

A woman in her 30s was rushed to hospital this afternoon after she was stabbed in an incident in Longford Town.

The incident occurred shortly after 4pm on Main Street in the town.

The woman received medical treatment at the scene and was moved to Mullingar Hospital.

It is understood she suffered stab wounds to the back of her head.

Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have yet been made and a full garda investigation is underway.
