Woman plucked from water dies

A Hungarian woman rescued from her car after it went over The Quay in Newport, Co Mayo, 11 days ago has died in hospital

Edina Voros (34) will be laid to rest in Newport Cemetery today following Requiem Mass in the local church. Ms Voros, who worked in a local restaurant, was pulled from her submerged car after it went into the water at high tide on October 21. Fire brigade and ambulance personnel as well as local residents went to the woman's assistance. Gardai at Westport, on (098) 25555, are appealing for witnesses.

Boy (17) held over theft of OAP's car

A TEENAGE boy accused of stealing a 90-year-old man's car is to remain in custody for another four weeks while further charges are considered.

The 17-year-old had been refused bail at the Dublin Children's Court. He is accused of stealing the elderly man's car at Red Arch Road, Baldoyle, north Co Dublin, on October 21. He also faces related charges for failing to stop for gardai, driving without a licence or insurance and driving dangerously while speeding.His next hearing is on November 30.

Gardai in plea to find missing teen

GARDAI are appealing for help tracing a teenage girl who has been missing for over a week.

Bernadette O'Connor (16), from Hazelmere, Naas, Co Kildare, was last seen around 1pm on October 22. She is believed to have a young dog -- a small black and white Chihuahua -- with her. She is described as being 5ft 6in tall, with brown shoulder length hair with blonde highlights.
