A MOTHER of four who died after she was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood on a busy roundabout had planned to bring her children to see their relatives in Lithuania at Christmas.

Gardai believe 35-year-old Zanna Alen died from head injuries after either falling or jumping from a moving car on to the roadway.

It is understood her four children are now being cared for by Ms Alen's sister, who also lives in Ireland.

A 29-year-old Eastern European, living in Waterford city, was arrested for questioning by gardai shortly after the incident but he was released without charge early yesterday.

Gardai will now prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

They continued to examine the scene of the incident yesterday and a car that was impounded is undergoing forensic analysis.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the victim died from head injuries.

Supt Chris Delaney said gardai were appealing for anyone who was in the Waterford ring road area between 11.30pm on Saturday and 12.30am on Sunday to contact them.
